During the school year Killarney Community College have continued to work with Killarney Looking Good on a number of projects to help develop the biosphere and biodiversity. It was identified by Killarney National park that they could do with some dipper bird boxes to be placed along under bridges in the park. Also Killarney Looking Good were looking for bird boxes to be installed around Killarney town. The Woodwork and Art Department in the school worked on designing and making 4 dipper boxes and 20 bird boxes over the last number of months. The school had also focused on developing the biodiversity within the school grounds and they have devised a 5 year plan to restore and develop the plant life to encourage wildlife around the school.
Killarney Looking Good have been a tremendous help to the school giving advice on planting and providing funding for a composter and also a raised planter used by students who have physical disabilities. Killarney Community College look forward to continuing their work with Killarney Looking Good in the next school year on more projects to enhance our local environment.
