Our school’s journey toward sustainability continues to blossom thanks to funding from the Killarney Looking Good Committee. The garden is buzzing with activity, and we’re thrilled to introduce two new tools helping us grow greener:
1. A new vegetable planter – More space means more fresh veggies grown right here on school grounds!
2. A Roto Composter, now installed in the central courtyard.
What’s a Roto Composter?
It’s a rotating compost bin that turns fruit and vegetable waste into rich, fertile compost. As the drum spins, it helps break down food scraps faster by mixing and aerating the materials—creating natural fertilizer we’ll use in our garden beds.
Drop in fruit and raw veggie scraps like apple cores, banana peels, carrot tops, and lettuce leaves.
Do NOT add meat, cooked food, dairy, or paper waste—these slow down the process and attract pests.
And remember: close the lid after use to keep the compost happy and healthy!
In just a few weeks, these scraps will transform into nutrient-rich compost that feeds our plants and keeps our garden growing strong.
Let’s all do our part to turn lunch leftovers into something green and great!
