Baran Breaks Irish Hearts

Baran Breaks Irish Hearts

Leaving Cert student and goalkeeper for the Rest of the World, Kamil Baran, proved to be the hero today in our annual Ireland vs the Rest of the World match as he saved 3 pens in a riveting peno shoot out, helping his team to a famous victory. 🏆

The first half was a tense affair with both sides giving up little chances. The break through came when diminutive striker Miloz crept in at the back post for a nice finish. Ref Mr O Reilly was kept busy as he flashed several imaginary yellows for tasty tackles and had to remind Mr A to remain in his technical area. The rest of the world went into ht 1 up. 🥅
After a rousing team talk from Mr Courtney, the Irish team were back into it when Micheal Fitz cut in from the left and curled a peach of a shot into the top corner leaving Baran with no chance. The ever dangerous Aidan Courtney put Ireland in front with a mazy run and neat finish leaving the boys in green in control of the game. With a minute left on the clock and Ireland dreaming of selfies and autographs, the rest of the world won a corner after an outrageous save from Moloney. A nice ball into the area was headed down towards goals but Captain Healy was adjudged to have stopped the ball from crossing the line with his hand and giving the Rest of the World a life line. Calls for Chris to have his sport star award rescinded fell on deaf ears as Miloz stepped up to cooly convert and send the game to dreaded penalties.😮

Cometh the hour, cometh the man, as the Leaving Cert with the big hands and great hair stood tall to make three fantastic saves to deny Fitzgerald, Aidan Courtney and Eric Moriarty in front of the whole school and teachers. Wild celebration ensued as the Rest of the World won the most dramatic game ever played in KCC history. 👏
