The Liebherr Engineering Scholarship Programme provides a unique opportunity for Leaving Certificate students in the Kerry area, to gain a 3rd level qualification in an engineering course of their choice. Upon successful completion, a graduate role in the company is assured.*

Programme summary 

•Level 7 or Level 8 BEng Qualification in one of the following engineering disciplines: 

Mechanical  |  Structural  |  Electrical  |  Mechatronics  | Automation

•Attend the college of your choice.

•Tuitionfees will be fully paid.

•Workexperience–You will have a guaranteedsummer job with Liebherr forthe duration of the scholarship. 

•Industrial placement– If industrial placement is offered aspart ofyourchosen course, you will be able tocomplete this at Liebherr.

•Guaranteed place onsuccessful completion of your course on the Liebherr graduate programme*.

•Apply to the CAO as normal for your course of choice.

Up to date CV including details of Leaving / Junior Cert projects.

Cover letter explaining why you have chosen engineering as a career path.

Copy of CAO application confirming your choice of one of the engineering disciplines above.

            e.g. ‘Scholarship application – Joe Bloggs’ as the subject in your email application.

Key dates 

•Closing date for Liebherr applications is Friday 2nd June 2017 at 12:00pm.

•A letter of response confirming your application will be sent to you no later than Friday 9th June 2017.

•The first stage of the selection process will take place on the week of the 3rd – 7th July.

•The remainder of the selection process will take place after Wednesday 16th August.

•Successful applicants will be selected as soon as possible after college offers are confirmed.

Liebherr Container Cranes 

Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd, based in Killarney is one of the world’s leading suppliers of state-of-the-art container handling equipment. Liebherr manufactures ship to shore container cranes for the loading and unloading of containers onto and off of container ships, along with support cranes for the stacking of containers in container yards and loading of containers onto trucks and trains.  The products manufactured in Killarney are in use in ports around the globe.

Overall impression of the scholarship

Financially the scholarship has been invaluable, but being a part of the Liebherr team means much more than just that.  So far, I have gained on-the-job experience throughout my course, which has given me an edge over my college peers in terms of my knowledge and understanding of engineering theories.

I’ve really enjoyed the working environment,and learning from work colleagues who have been more than willing to help me at any point.  It gives me a great sense of accomplishment to see something I have designed go from a sketch on paper to being implemented on these high-tech machines.

I am half way through my course and looking forward to joining the graduate program afterwards.  I would encourage anyone who has an interest in engineering to consider the Liebherr Scholarship Programme.
